POSITION PURPOSE
A brief summary of the purpose this position must fulfill.
The Cost Accountant will provide financial support for the Galway manufacturing facility in a Cost Accounting role. Understand and interpret results in Oracle system to assist in operational & financial decision making at the site. Responsible for supporting complex accounting and financial analysis functions, using established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Development & maintenance of standard product costs system for products manufactured in Galway facility.
2. Prepare complex financial models for use in decision making.
3. Coordinate the compilation and analysis of monthly Operational KPI data that affect the P&L and balance sheet for General Manager’s review.
4. Coordination of the annual budgeting process for COGS related departments within Galway.
5. Develop costing reports and analyses to support the completion of the Strategic Plan and Annual Budget.
6. Analyze monthly operational data and prepare cost package reporting for management review.
7. Analyze product costing calculations for reasonableness. Provide meaningful analyses and offer cost improvement recommendations to management.
8. Research variances to developed standards on a monthly basis.
9. Ensure Cost Accounting functions are being performed within the guidelines of the company’s internal controls, policies and procedures (ref: Sarbannes-Oxley, etc.).
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
KNOWLEDGE
Must possess knowledge of Cost Accounting policies and procedures.
Must possess an understanding of the Cost Accounting functions.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The successful candidate must be able to analyze current situations with a focus on process improvement. Sound reasoning ability is critical. Strong PC skills are essential. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, management skills, strong work ethic, consensus gathering skills, organizational skills, experience working with an integrated ERP system (i.e. SAP) preferred, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and Lotus Notes.
SUPERVISION
Position functions semi-autonomously.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Must hold a professional accountancy qualification with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a cost accounting role.
However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents. Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence. Ability to work with managers or directors and communicate ambiguous concepts. Ability to present to groups across the organization.

Advanced mathematical skills
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis. Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems.
